Can't find what you're looking for?...

1.
You can search the entire database by clicking on everything (the default), or by category. If the category radio button is selected, the categories currently listed in the drop-down menus will be searched.

2.
Narrow your search by age group with all ages (the default), adult, or youth. The sites listed as youth are intended for K-12 students.

3.
Narrow your search by category and/or sub-category. When you change the first drop-down menu, you'll notice that the one below it also changes. The second drop-down menu lists each category's sub-categories.

4.
The search words field looks for your terms in the name and the description. For example, a search for "ocean" would return both of these sites:

Office of Wetlands, Oceans & Watersheds--A division of the EPA

Assessment and Watershed Protection--from the EPA Office of Wetlands, Oceans and Watersheds

If you leave the search words field blank, you'll get all the listings for the particular category and sub-category currently selected.

5.
To narrow your returns, search for "any of the words", "all of the words", or the "exact phrase".

example return:

Drinking Water Education Issues--The Blue Thumb Project is an ongoing project to raise public awareness of drinking water issues

any of the words
"blue" would find it
"thumb" would find it

all of the words
"blue thumb" would find it
"public awareness" would find it
"blue lagoon" wouldn't find it

exact phrase
"water issues" would find it
"public awareness" would find it
"blue finger project" wouldn't find it

This search doesn’t support advanced searches using Boolean notation ( (), AND, OR, NOT, &, |, ! )

If you need a good starting point, try the category map. It lists all the categories and their subcategories.
